We’ve tested the beta version of iPadOS 26 ahead of release – and it’s bringing the iPad closer than ever to being a full-fledged laptop. Especially for professionals in construction and project management who work with docu tools, there are exciting new possibilities. Here are the three features that will give you a real productivity boost in your daily work:

1. Windowed Mode – Multitasking like on a PC

At last, you can open multiple apps in freely movable windows – just like on a PC or Mac. Windows can be minimized, overlapped, resized, or arranged across virtual desktops. Combined with improved mouse and keyboard support, the iPad transforms into a true mobile workstation.

Especially useful for docu tools users: Open docu tools in one window and Outlook or a construction plan app in another – making your workflow much more efficient.

2. Documents App – Smarter Organization

The redesigned Documents app offers clearer structure, powerful search capabilities, and more metadata options. This means: reports from docu tools can be stored, organized, and retrieved much faster – ideal for daily site documentation without wasted time searching.

3. Preview-App – View and Annotate Documents

With the new Preview app, the iPad finally gets a native document viewer. PDFs and other files can be opened directly and even annotated – no external software required. For docu tools users, this makes it much easier to review, comment on, and coordinate reports with colleagues.

Bonus: PaperKit – Potential for docu tools Sketch

Apple is also introducing PaperKit, a new tool for digital sketching and note-taking – featuring advanced drawing tools, layer management, and improved Apple Pencil support.
