Our API documentation has been refreshed. We are using Redocly to support our client in their integration task.

The new interface includes:

  • interactive API testing tool directly in your browser,
  • API endpoints to create, update and list "People" data with custom fields.

The enhanced documentation simplifies integration between Calamari and your internal systems, with Calamari serving as the source of truth for employee data. You can create and update employee profiles with all their custom fields in Core HR module.

We've expanded Calamari's Slack integration - now you can perform additional key actions directly in the app:

  • Add attendance records from Home Tab
  • Approve leave requests
  • Review and approve time tracking requests

The new features respect your security settings - for example, the attendance marking option will only appear for users with approval permissions.

More Slack integration improvements coming soon.

Three mobile app updates

Absence policy description in the Entitlement view

In response to our customers' feedback, we've improved the entitlement details view. By default, all fields are collapsed and can be expanded by clicking anywhere or on the icon. Upon expansion, you'll see information about restrictions, absence type description, and leave expiration date.

New request details view

To provide a better overview of leave information, we've refreshed the leave request details screen in our mobile app with useful features:

  • Check leave balance directly in the request view with the new bar
  • Enjoy an even clearer interface that matches the web version

Skip holidays when marking attendance

You can now skip holidays when marking attendance when adding timesheet entries, just like in the web version. We've also added weekday information next to dates for better clarity.

Core HR

Employees can manage their own data

A major change in the Core HR module - now every Calamari user can update custom fields independently.

This new feature allows for self-service updates of contact information, billing details, or collection of any additional information.

Administrators can set visibility and editing permissions for specific fields for managers, owners (of given employee), and the entire organization.

How to use this feature?

  • Go to Configuration -> Employee Fields
  • Select the configurable field whose visibility/editing permissions you want to modify
  • Check appropriate access boxes in the side panel

You can also modify the visibility of most system fields - they are marked as "Configurable system field".

New restriction for number of days off within a week

Sales & CS avatar
Shared by Sales & CS • December 12, 2024

We've introduced a new restriction that allows you to control the number of days employees can request for specific absence types within a week. This will be particularly useful for managing flexible work arrangements, including remote work.

Administrators can set a maximum number of days per week for selected absence types and choose whether the system should display a warning or completely prevent submission of requests that exceed the set limit.

To configure the new restriction, go to Configuration → choose or create new absence type → and then pick tab "Restrictions", and select "Absence can be requested for maximum X days per week" where you can set your preferred number of days and behavior (warning/block).

For Core HR users we've improved the Configuration/Custom fields interface to make it easier to understand and use. This update is part of our ongoing project, designed to make employee data self-service possible and secure.

What's new in the configuration table?

  • Clear visibility of security parameters - see who can view or edit each field
  • Easy distinction between system and custom fields
  • Visual indicators for configurable system fields
  • Intuitive icons showing field types (numeric, text, and 5 other types)
  • Simplified editing - click anywhere on a row or use the edit icon to modify settings

Combined with our recent custom fields visibility update, you now have a comprehensive toolkit for managing employee data access:

  • Set specific visibility for different manager types
  • Control editing rights for the entire organization
  • Configure access to both custom and system fields
  • Give managers opportunity to edit their team's info, such as schedule changes, position updates, and other employee data efficiently.

Check out the new configuration options - and if you don't have the CoreHR module yet, try it out now!

Refreshed reports interface is here

Sales & CS avatar
Shared by Sales & CS • December 11, 2024

To make data analysis even simpler and more intuitive, we’ve refreshed 8 of our most-used reports: People, Entitlement, Requests, Payroll, Timesheet, Activities, Presence list, and Projects.

What’s changed?

Each report now has a cleaner filtering interface with several improvements:

  • Set filters first to quickly access only the data you need
  • Preview your data directly in the browser, not just in Excel
  • Sticky header shows you what values you’re looking at
  • Your filter preferences are now saved for future use

We’ve also improved the overall performance so you can access your data faster.

Additionally, the Requests report got extra improvements:

  • Longer texts (like absence reasons) now appear in pop-up hints when you hover over them
  • Automatic loading of new data as you scroll replaces traditional pagination for smoother browsing

Two more reports - Abnormalities and Attendance - are currently being refreshed and will join the others later this month.

Take a look at new reports now!
