Calamari What's New
Set Custom Emojis for Each Absence Type
Many of you reported that the standard icons don't match your requests—especially the palm tree for sick leave.
You can now set dedicated emojis for each request type. They'll appear in:
- Slack statuses
- Private Teams calendar statuses
- Google Calendar events
How it works: If you're already using Calamari, your settings remain unchanged—all leave requests still show the palm tree 🌴, and remote work shows the laptop 💻. You can now customize them in each request type configuration.
Administrators can choose any emoji from the available list for each request type individually, including neutral ones that don't indicate the type of absence, or those you use internally.
What's next? In upcoming phases, emojis will also appear in group notifications, iCal, and upcoming absences in Slack.
Holiday Calendar Sync with Slack Statuses
For teams across different locations, we've added synchronization of public holidays from Calamari's holiday calendar to Slack statuses.
Your status now shows absences based on the holiday calendar, such as national holiday observances, bringing clarity to organizations with employees from different countries.
How to enable: Go to Configuration → Integrations → Slack and select the holiday sync option (disabled by default).
Attachment visibility control in leave requests
Not every attachment should be visible to everyone. Medical certificates, court documents, or other sensitive files can now remain accessible only to those who actually need to see them.
How it works:
Administrators can now restrict file visibility in the configuration of each leave type. The rules are consistent for everyone – no surprises or exceptions.
You'll find the settings in the "Fields and visibility" tab in the configuration of a given leave type.
What you gain:
- Greater control over sensitive data
- Clear rules for document access
- Compliance with your organization's security policies
The feature is now available for all accounts.
Adding and editing employees from the mobile app
You don't always have access to a computer. A new employee on a construction site, in a warehouse, or in the field? Now you can add them to your organization right away from your phone – without waiting to get back to the office.
From the mobile app, you can also quickly edit their basic information – even if you don't use the Core HR module.
Greater control over document access
You can now manage document access much more precisely thanks to new managerial permissions in the Core HR module.
Until now, access was mainly determined by general roles, such as admin or manager. Now you can separately define permissions for each type of manager:
- Company Manager
- Team Manager
- Direct Supervisor
This allows you, for example, to grant access to a specific document folder only to the Direct Supervisor, without sharing it with the Team Manager.
More security and full control over who sees which files.
Try it out in your Documents settings.
Automatic reminders for pending timesheet edit requests
Timesheet edit requests that sit unanswered are a risk—they lead to reporting errors and payroll delays. That's why we've introduced automatic reminders for managers—similar to those they already know from leave requests.
If a timesheet edit request remains pending for 3 days, the manager automatically receives an email reminder. Simple and effective.
👉 The feature works automatically and requires no additional setup.
Timesheet Details Report
We know accurate data isn't negotiable, that's why we've rebuilt our Timesheet Details Report from the ground up with rock-solid data integrity and flexible data ordering. The enhanced report is your single source of truth—seamlessly connecting two modules: Time&Attendance and Time Off without manual reconciliation.
What you get:
- Complete visibility into work time, breaks, projects, and absences
- Customizable data views that show only what matters to your team
- Smart filtering by date, people, teams, and contract times
- One-click Excel export for deeper analysis
The report adapts to your team's complexity while keeping things simple.

Timesheet Calendar View
Timesheet errors have a way of piling up. That's why we've given every employee a tool to catch them before they become a problem.
The new timesheet view is a clean calendar - designed so everyone can independently verify their logged hours and instantly see what needs attention.
What you gain:
- Instant error detection – warning icons and red tiles flag missing entries and inconsistencies
- Full year overview – all work time in one place, no view switching required
- Self-service editing – employees click a day, fill in details, and send an edit request to their manager
- Customizable view – display only the data that matters (e.g., projects, categories)
Fewer questions for HR, more autonomy for your team, cleaner timesheets.
👉 The feature is already live for all employees. Let your team know they can now review and verify their timesheets more easily.
Automatic time tracking based on location
Forgetting to clock in or out is the most common cause of timesheet gaps. That's why we've added automatic time tracking based on GPS and geofencing.
Just enable the feature in the app, and the system will automatically log clock-ins when an employee enters the office zone and clock-outs when they leave. No tapping, no remembering, no gaps.
What you gain:
- Automatic clock in/clock out – the app logs work time when employees enter and leave the office zone
- Full employee control – each person decides whether to enable automatic tracking
- Smart operation – the system respects work schedules and won't log time outside working hours
- Precise location data – history of entries and exits with accurate timestamps for admin review
The feature requires location permissions set to "always" and access to precise location. The app must be active (logged-in user, permissions granted).

Improved Reports Filters
Get ready for even faster reporting experience! Based on your feedback, we’ve rolled out an update to our reports, to make finding the data you need simpler and more intuitive.
What’s new?
- Simplified Filters: The most-used filters are front and center, with advanced options neatly organized inside the filter menu.
- Separate Grouping: The "Group by" function is now separate from the filters. Adjust your filters without losing your preferred data grouping (e.g., by absence type or employee).
- New Filter Option: Filter leave requests by their creation date, in addition to the approval date. This is perfect for auditing and tracking request submission patterns.
These changes are live in your account now. Head over to the Reports tab to see how much easier it is to get the insights you need.
