From now on, you can block time-off requests from people designated as substitutes.
Why? To ensure that someone is always present. When someone is assigned as a substitute, that person will not be able to take time off during the same period.
The new restriction works in two modes:
Try it: Go to Configuration → Absence types / Time-off categories → [select absence type] → Restrictions → Add new rule: Requester cannot request time off for a period in which they are assigned as a substitute.
The new Performance module in Calamari helps streamline the assessment and feedback process within the team. Everything happens in one place – from self-evaluation, through peer review, to manager review.
Here is what we recently improved:
Try it: Go to the Performance module and check how it can improve the evaluation process in your team.
Stop tracking deadlines manually – let the system do it for you.
You can now set up automatic reminders based on any date field in the Core HR module.
This ensures that no important date slips through the cracks.
What you can automate:
How it works:
Go to Settings → Notifications → Reminders, select the field you want to monitor (e.g., Next Annual Review), and specify the date range the system should track.
Then decide whether this applies to the entire organization or only selected departments, and choose the delivery method – email, Slack, or Microsoft Teams.
Coming soon:
In the near future, each notification will include a direct link to Calamari that opens a view with a list of tasks to complete.
You'll be able to check off individual items as you complete them, so you'll always know what's done and what still requires action.
From this view, you'll also be able to download or print a report right away – everything in one place, without switching between tabs.
Many of you reported that the standard icons don't match your requests—especially the palm tree for sick leave.
You can now set dedicated emojis for each request type. They'll appear in:
How it works: If you're already using Calamari, your settings remain unchanged—all leave requests still show the palm tree 🌴, and remote work shows the laptop 💻. You can now customize them in each request type configuration.
Administrators can choose any emoji from the available list for each request type individually, including neutral ones that don't indicate the type of absence, or those you use internally.
What's next? In upcoming phases, emojis will also appear in group notifications, iCal, and upcoming absences in Slack.
For teams across different locations, we've added synchronization of public holidays from Calamari's holiday calendar to Slack statuses.
Your status now shows absences based on the holiday calendar, such as national holiday observances, bringing clarity to organizations with employees from different countries.
How to enable: Go to Configuration → Integrations → Slack and select the holiday sync option (disabled by default).
Not every attachment should be visible to everyone. Medical certificates, court documents, or other sensitive files can now remain accessible only to those who actually need to see them.
How it works:
Administrators can now restrict file visibility in the configuration of each leave type. The rules are consistent for everyone – no surprises or exceptions.
You'll find the settings in the "Fields and visibility" tab in the configuration of a given leave type.
What you gain:
The feature is now available for all accounts.
You don't always have access to a computer. A new employee on a construction site, in a warehouse, or in the field? Now you can add them to your organization right away from your phone – without waiting to get back to the office.
From the mobile app, you can also quickly edit their basic information – even if you don't use the Core HR module.
You can now manage document access much more precisely thanks to new managerial permissions in the Core HR module.
Until now, access was mainly determined by general roles, such as admin or manager. Now you can separately define permissions for each type of manager:
This allows you, for example, to grant access to a specific document folder only to the Direct Supervisor, without sharing it with the Team Manager.
More security and full control over who sees which files.
Try it out in your Documents settings.
Timesheet edit requests that sit unanswered are a risk—they lead to reporting errors and payroll delays. That's why we've introduced automatic reminders for managers—similar to those they already know from leave requests.
If a timesheet edit request remains pending for 3 days, the manager automatically receives an email reminder. Simple and effective.
👉 The feature works automatically and requires no additional setup.
We know accurate data isn't negotiable, that's why we've rebuilt our Timesheet Details Report from the ground up with rock-solid data integrity and flexible data ordering. The enhanced report is your single source of truth—seamlessly connecting two modules: Time&Attendance and Time Off without manual reconciliation.
What you get:
The report adapts to your team's complexity while keeping things simple.
